Mapping The Life of Giovanni Bordoni

The Case of Catterina Vizzani (1751) is a text which puts in characters in constant motion. Travel permits the protagonist, Giovanni Bordoni, to live as a transgender man without detection, moving from those who suspect him, or know him too well. The climax of the text takes place on a road from Lucca to Sienna, in which Bordoni and his fiancée, Maria, are pursued and gunned down by the Governor of Angiari's soldiers.

To explain the narrative of the text, key events are attached to their setting, and an object contemporary to Bordoni on the map below.
